Hi all,
New to the site. Where in the world do I find the updated supply list? The only one I can find is the one that came with the course. Thanks in advance.

can anyone help me with a materials/supply list, including the type of recommended canvas?

Sorry, I haven't seen anything about an updated supply list for this course. All I know is you should use what is listed on the supply list in the book that comes with the course. You probably have received the course by now, as I see you posted a week ago.
Although, I found the recommended sizes for the Artisan brushes (which are listed for use in water-mixable oil and acrylics) a bit confusing - first of all it says to buy # 2, 5 and 10 in both flats and filberts, but there is no # 5 and 10 in that brand. Next, the same size flat and filbert (e.g. #2) don't have the same width across the ferrule, so the filberts would be larger than the flats. How confusing
So, what I did was look at the Winsor & Newton Artists Oil Brushes which are recommended for regular oil in sizes #2, 5, 10. They have the same size for flats and filberts. I found out the width in mm for each size and bought brushes of the same width in another brand. I can tell you that the #2 is aprx. 6 mm wide, #5 is 10 mm wide and #10 is 20 mm wide. Sorry, I don't know what that is in inches. Maybe you can find a converter on Google if you need to know the size in inches.

thank you Claudia,
yes, i received the course just about the time of your post. Thanks for the information for the brush sizes as it appears i will have to buy another brand of brush as well, i haven't been able to find the W&N here, just Art Spectrum brand.
The various coloured paints (W&N and Remb.) for the palette , seem to be available but i cant locate the grey tone Academy Acrylic grey paint to tone the canvas with. I assume i can substitute with Art Spectrum Colourfix Primer (fine tooth)?
the frederix canvas and the other bits all seem to be available so once i find out what the appropriate Art Spectrum brush size substitutes are all will be good

I believe you can use any kind of student grade acrylic grey paint that you can get your hands on, as long as it's a middle grey. I will mix my own grey to tone those canvases. I follow this course in acrylics and already have titanium white, black and burnt umber, so it'll be easy to just mix up some for that purpose. On DickBlick's website you can find a colour swatch for the mid-grey acrylic colour to aim at, if you want to mix it yourself http://www.dickblick.com/products/golden-heavy-body-artist-acrylics-2-oz/
Scroll down to the neutral greys and click on the magnifying glass on the left. Happy painting - i'll be doing my orange tree today |

Yes the acrylic grey is not critical; you can use any brand. I have not understood the references to an "updated" supply list; to the best of my knowledge the list you find in your book is accurate. _________________ www.gayle-levee.com |
