Hi from the UK!
I'm Mark and I have just ordered the course. I have never painted in my life and have no artistic training whatsoever, so it's going to be very interesting to see what I come up with! I have always wanted to be able to paint so hopefuly my desire to paint will go some way to make up for my zero experience (and zero ability at the moment! ).

Not quit sure how this forum works so lets see if this goes. I have been painting for awhile but mostly spent my time as a dancer but the body is getting older so I am focusing on painting again. I needed a little more guidance and encouragement than myself. I have taken several art courses but find myself liking oils but needed a little more guidance w them. I received Gayle's course for a Ch. present. My daughter took her workshop and said she was extremely caring. This looks like a great forum once I figure it out. I am too used to FB-lol |

Hi,
I have posted a 'intro' already but, under 'I'm Not New To Painting But,....I Am 'New' Actually'.
I look forward to being part of this growing group of artists and learning/contributing.
Cheers.

Why are you being so rude to a new member?
I will not communicate with you on this forum until you behave with respect. I will seek to block you and I have already requested this to Gayle. |

I'm Rima and I live in California. I studied art in high school and in college, but never pursued it because of all the other responsibilities I put ahead of painting. All my life I have said "When I grow up, I'm going to be an artist". Well, I guess I'm ready to grow up!
I have gone through lesson one and I'm about to go shopping for my supplies. (by the way, the dvd said I could purchase supplies here on the site, but I can't find where? Anyone? - Thanks) I cried watching the first lesson because I can't believe this day has finally arrived for me.
I look forward to interacting with all of you. |

Hello Rima,
Welcome to our forum. I'm so happy you've joined us.
I ordered most of my supplies through Blick, except for the knife which I ordered through Plaza Artist Materials. Plaza was very quick in their delivery. I ordered paint from them later on. Of course there are other online sites and local stores like Michaels as well.

Hi, I am from NJ and I am new to painting. I watched the first dvd last night and part of the second dvd. I believe this is going to be a wonderful learning experience for me so I am looking forward to it. |

Thank you Polly. I have found Blick and have ordered a few items from them. Also, Daniel Smith has a good site. Plaza Artist Material is now on my list to check out for future supplies.
Cheers,
Rima

Hello all you fantastic painters and classmates. To say I am excited to be here is an understatement. I can hardly contain myself. Honestly!
Just a bit of a background....My name is Kriss and I just turned 58..OMG did I just say that? LOL I have done every craft imaginable, but was never satisfied...couldn't find my niche. I always loved painting but thought since I had no formal training how would anyone ever consider me an artist?
Then I discovered Bob Ross. Need I say more? I became hooked on painting and so far have used his techniques and those of Annette Kowalski to paint 16 paintings so far.
Now that I am hooked on painting, I want to REALLY learn to paint and lo and behold I found this course. I haven't received my kit yet and every day I am running to the mailbox to check. I thank Bob Ross style to get me fully hooked on painting, but I want to create my own works the right correct way. I love oils but am not crazy about acryllics. I don't know if this is covered in this course, but if it is, I will learn. I am proud of what I have done with the wet-on-wet style so far and if you want to see them, please go to my blog http://www.kreesclayings.blogspot.com. My paintings are on three pages I believe.
I am so looking forward to getting to know everyone and getting started with this course. I am already preparing a studio space in anticipation. Right now, my studio is a corner of my kitchen and the garage when it is nice outside. LOL
