|
|
I am old, but not good in music at all. I try to learn the Rumba, and it is ok for most movement; however, the music/beat kills me.
What I do to learn the counting, as a man and leading partner, I believe it is important to count it right. I listen to music, but don't know where is the ONE, or down beat.
What kind of class can help me?
What can be done to fix this problem? |

dk,
As you probably know already, Jaimee and Mark aren't posting.
Why? I don't know. They must have their reasons.
The rumba is a 4/4 count. The first beat (ONE) is the down beat or the heavy beat. Or think of it as the Rum beat instance. You'll be able to hear the heaviest beats. That is only a reference point of course, The Rum-ba would indeed be the second count. Or two-and.
So, one way of counting is to listen for the down or heavy beat and count ONE ....TWO and........THREE......FOUR and.......ONE....etc
One, ( the first beat) always starts stepping forward on you left foot.
Slow.....Quick Quick......Slow......Quick Quick.......Slow...
Or. Rum...RUMBA......RUM......RUMBA......RUM.....etc.
Hope this helps,
